FDA Guidance on Importing Drugs from Canada
On May 25, 2022, the FDA released guidance that said pharmacists or wholesale drug distributors may participate in programs to import any drug from Canada that can be sold legally in Canada or in the American market. This is a part of the FDA’s effort “to reduce costs for American consumers seeking eligible prescription drugs from Canada.
Learning Objectives
The webinar will address the current state of drug importation laws and evaluate the impact the recent FDA guidance could have on lowering prescription drug costs for TPA’s and their clients. For example, since the FDA guidance could be considered a “change in law,” the webinar will discuss what actions a TPA may want to consider taking to improve its current PBM pricing.
The webinar will also discuss how Canada, pharmaceutical drug manufacturers, and PBMs may respond to the FDA’s guidance on the importation of prescription drugs from Canada.
