HITECH Business Associate Agreement Changes
The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (as incorporated in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) (the “HITECH Act”) included numerous changes to the HIPAA privacy and security rules for TPAs in their business associate role, as well as for covered entities. Dot has prepared a revised business associate agreement (BAA) for SPBA members to assist in complying with the HITECH provisions. This business associate agreement was distributed at the SPBA Fall Meeting and posted on the SPBA website. In this webinar, Dot explains her revisions to this agreement in more detail than she had time to do at the SPBA Fall Meeting, as well as other HITECH changes.
