Accountable Care Organization Webinar
The Accountable Care component of PPACA has generated significant excitement in the provider and major carrier communities, with well over 230 Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) formed so far in 45 states and the District of Columbia. What was intended as a program to control costs in Medicare through vertical integration of providers and shared risk for quality and cost has exploded in the commercial sector. Only 59 of the ACOs have contracted with CMS while the remainder has set their sights on fully insured and self-funded business.
Most hospitals and organized physician groups in the United States are actively studying the possibility of developing an exclusive provider organization (EPO) network, which can offer health benefits to their local community. Most bring a commitment to improving quality and a desire to control cost. That is generally where their knowledge and capabilities end. In order to be successful, the ACOs must partner with organizations that can provide independent administrative services, care management services and access to technology and vendors that are integral to delivery of health benefits.
This webinar is intended to provide an overview of ACOs and the opportunity they present to TPAs, as well as review the steps that should be taken to identify quality opportunities. Additionally, the speaker will provide a number of very specific recommendations to develop a successful partnership and ACO.
