Time:  12:00 - 1:30 pm EST

November 5, 2014 is the deadline for most health plans to register for the health plan identifier as required in the Administrative Simplification, September 5, 2012, final rule.

Both the Health Plan Identifier (HPID) final regulations and the recently published Certification of Compliance proposed regulations have requirements that apply to controlling health plans (CHPs). Before you can determine whether you’re a controlling health plan, however, you must answer the underlying question, “what is a health plan?”

Obtaining the HPID has not been as simple as it sounds. There have been pain points along the way.  SPBA has forwarded all the comments we have received from members to CMS officials.  We have asked the speaker from CMS’ OESS to do a step-by-step demonstration on how to obtain a HPID.  The speaker is eager to interact with SPBA members, but has not confirmed that he is able to give a step-by-step explanation.  He is prepared to answer questions on the process.

Speaker:
Chevell Thomas of CMS's OESS, will explain the HPID requirement and how to obtain a HPID.
